July 16-19 OR August 13-16 for youth 10-15 years old
PowerCamp is a summer day camp for young women and gender non-conforming youth to come together in a supportive environment to address issues specific to them in a powerful and action oriented way. It is four days of summer fun designed to challenge young women to increase their mental, physical and emotional strength. YWCA Halifax’s PowerCamp is to offer a fun-filled, experiential four days that will enable young women to discover and celebrate their own power!
PowerCamp is free to attend however all participants must register. You are encouraged to register early, as there are limited spots.
Who Can Participate?
Young women and gender non-conforming youth aged 10-15.
PowerCamp is inclusive of trans and gender non-conforming youth.
Workshop Topics: Body Image, Healthy Relationships, Physical Activity and Youth Led Change.
Activities May Include:
Arts (painting, music, poetry, dance, sidewalk art)
Outdoor Excursions (beach, parks)
Physical Activities (gardening, circus, hiking, yoga etc.)
Community projects (photography)
*Each PowerCamper will be given a special treat on their first day of camp.
* We will be based in the Student Union Building, Dalhousie University. Bus tickets will be available if help with transportation is required
* Each day will run from 9:30am to 3:00pm
* There will be tons of snacks and drinks (for all dietary needs), however, we ask that each youth bring their own “main dish” for lunch that suits their dietary needs
Registration for PowerCamp 2019 must be received no later than June 30, 2019. Please register early to secure a spot; there are limited spots!
