WISH (Supportive Housing Program)
Finding safe, affordable housing can feel impossible for women and gender diverse people who have faced homelessness, trauma, or mental health challenges. Across the Halifax Regional Municipality, this challenge is felt every day.
WISH is providing hope through short and long-term apartment units for women and gender diverse people who need affordable, dignified, and supportive housing.
Additional supports and programs are offered to WISH participants to help them rebuild independence and work toward their goals.
*WISH, previously known as Women in Supportive Housing, was one of the first programs created by YWCA Halifax. In 2020, YWCA Halifax officially expanded supports to gender diverse and Two Spirit people. Program names such as WISH will be updated to reflect the populations we’re committed and proud to serve.
